Shenstone Parish Council

Shenstone Parish Council is a non-political elected body forming the third tier of Local Government.

The Parish Council has the same status as a Town Council, and both are sometimes known as "Local Councils". As Councillors, we represent you, the elector and resident in the parish.

The Parish is the largest in Staffordshire and is recognised as one of the most active in the County. Included within the Shenstone Parish are Little Aston, Stonnall, Little Hay, Shenstone Wood End, Streetly Village, and of course Shenstone itself.

The Council comprises 15 members, acting rather like the Board of a company. All Councillors work on a voluntary basis. No Councillor has the right to act individually: the authority of the Council comes from the body as a whole. The Clerk, as a Responsible Officer of the Council in Law, has a number of specific duties and responsibilities in executing the resolutions of the Council and advising on points of Law and procedure.

The Council has an office which is located at:

25c Main Street
Shenstone
WS14 0LZ

The office is generally open from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm on Mondays to Thursdays.

To contact the Clerk, Sue Nelson, please call 01543 481947
or fax 01543 483312
or e-mail admin@shenstone-staffs.gov.uk

On this site we will:

  • Tell you what we have done and plan to do.
  • Make our activities on your behalf more open.
  • Encourage people with skills and some spare time to stand for Council at the next election.
  • Encourage more people to attend our monthly Parish Council meetings.
  • The most important objective of this site is to give you an idea of what your Parish Council does on your behalf and more importantly - what we spend your money on!
