Shenstone Village Festival 28th-30th June 2019

Every other year our village puts on a display of its many and varied talents. This year will be our 14th festival which means we’ve been doing this for 28 years.  It all started back in 1993 with an idea from one of our most dynamic, multi-talented residents Pauline Sampson. Sadly Pauline died on New Year’s day 2019 but her legacy lives on. 

Full details can be found in the festival programme which costs £4  per person (children go free). This is your entry ticket for all the events on offer, on both Saturday and Sunday  – all proceeds go to local worthy causes. You can buy programmes at Russell’s the butchers; the village shop, the chemist, the library and at the parish office.                   Here is a summary of the weekend events:-

On Friday 28th evening, the first community event will be a musical concert taking place at the village hall. Swim With Sharks will be performing a range of songs from the ’60’s to the current day.  It all kicks off at 7.30, bring your own drinks. Tickets £10. Click here for details.

On Saturday there will be lots of places for tea/coffee and other tasty treats  – the Cooper Room, Library,  St John’s Hall and Trinity all have food on offer. There are 19 beautiful gardens to browse around – some also offering food for the body as well as the soul.

The Glebe (the green space in front of St John’s) is the place to head for if you have children in tow. There will be fun and games  on offer and the usual bouncy castles.

For the grownups there is a photo display in the library, whilst in St John’s Church you can see the work of  Shenstone Quilters, and in the Cooper Room, the Heart of England China Painters will be showing their wares.

On Saturday Evening in Trinity Methodist Church there will be more ukuleles than you can shake a stick at, performing popular songs to sing along with. The concert starts at 7.0 pm and refreshments will be provided. Tickets cost £8.0 Click here for details.

 

On Sunday there also will be lots of places for tea/coffee and other tasty treats  – the Cooper Room, Library and St John’s Hall all have food on offer. Many of the 19 beautiful gardens will be open to browse around – some also offering food for the body as well as the soul.

The Glebe will be taken over by a display of classic cars and motor cycles, whilst at the same time,  a display of costumes used in well known film and T.V dramas can be seen in St John’s Church Hall.
