Instead of each property depending on its own gas boiler, a shared network utilises local sources of low-carbon heat that might otherwise go unused. These include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><b>Ground, Air and Water:<\/b> Harnessing natural thermal energy from the environment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><b>Industrial By-Products:<\/b> Capturing excess heat from factories, waste or other local processes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Heat is transported efficiently through a network of underground pipes, delivering sustainable warmth while reducing both carbon emissions and air pollution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">14.03.25 &#8211; Updates<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">By 2050 all Shenstone residents need to be on <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">electric or renewable heating to meet the UK <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">governments legally binding net-zero carbon <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">targets.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Current home heating carbon emissions for <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Shenstone are around double the UK average at 4.2 <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">tonnes CO2 emissions per household.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Following an initial feasibility study Lichfield District <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Council and Shenstone Parish Council have <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">commissioned decarbonisation experts HI Group to <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">complete a detailed business case testing the<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">viability of a Heat Network for Shenstone. South <\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Staffs Water is assisting with the project.:-<\/span><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shenstone-staffs.gov.uk\/shenstone\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/HNDU-article-V3-Final.pdf\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"> Link to Update report<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Lichfield District Council and Shenstone Parish Council have commissioned decarbonisation experts HI Group to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study into the viability of a heat network for Shenstone.
