NWR is a social organization for women. We have groups across the UK that connect women who are interested in everything and talk about anything! <\/span><\/p>\n

This year NWR is celebrating its Diamond Anniversary. It was founded in 1961 by Maureen Nichol in response to a Guardian article \u201cSqueezed like Sardines in Suburbia\u201d to give women at home with young children a space to meet other \u201clively minded\u201d women. Nowadays the age profile has changed a little and NWR appeals to a broad range of women including those who have recently retired or have moved and are looking for new contacts. Of course younger members are always welcome!<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Shenstone NWR group has 22 members and we meet fortnightly in members\u2019 homes. The topics for discussion range widely, including the history of chocolate, women artists, the country of Japan and a book review. Our group enjoys participating in national events such as area meetings, a telephone treasure trail and the Big Read. During lockdown the national group organized amazing speakers for us via Zoom. We also have social gatherings to celebrate birthdays, a summer walk, a BBQ and visits to places of interest. The subject at these meetings tends to be conversation, sampling tasty food dishes and wine tasting! <\/span><\/p>\n
