Shenstone Village Festival 2022 – THANKS ALL ROUND

As chairman of the Shenstone Village Festival Co-ordinating Committee, I’d like to formally thank everyone associated with this year’s Festival. The weather wasn’t perfect but that didn’t stop the huge number of residents and visitors from turning out to enjoy the varied and interesting events on offer.

As well as being a great community success, it also provided a much needed fund-raising platform for many of our local groups.

We have now completed our accounts and can confirm that (after all expenses have been taken out) we raised over £3,800 from the sale of programmes and raffle tickets. A further £3,600 was raised by individual groups to help sustain their own organisations, or to pass on to other charitable causes.

So, in total our fun weekend festival raised just under £7,500 for good causes. What an incredible achievement, well done everyone.

As many of you will be aware, the Festival Community Fund is there to enable us to put on this biennial event which means it needs to cover the cost of the programmes – and this year, raffle tickets and additional signage. Also the cost of advertising and event insurance.

As in previous years, we need to put aside sufficient funds to enable us to stage future festivals whilst leaving us with a surplus from which we can provide grants to local community groups in need of funding support for specific purposes. Indeed from the 2019 fund surplus we were able to help 15 such organisations.

To apply for a grant for your organisation, you will need to submit an application form with brief details of why you are seeking financial support. Forms can be obtained from the council office and the library and can also be downloaded here.

The five-person, independent, funding committee will meet in early October to review requests and authorise awards, so please submit your forms to our treasurer Jenny Tompkin, either by email:, or in a sealed envelope to 43 Millbrook Drive, by Friday 30th September.

Once again, many thanks to everyone who made this festival happen, including our advertising sponsors and the local businesses that donated prizes for our raffle.

Keith Jones

Chair, Festival Coordinating Committee.
