1st Shenstone Scouts entered 2 teams into the 2010 Lichfield District Scouts Cooking Competition, held at Shenstone Lodge School on Sunday 16th May.



Held in the grounds of Shenstone Lodge School for the seceond year running, the Shenstone teams were amongst 14 teams from through out the Lichfield district tasked with preparing and cooking 4 courses over open wood fiores. On this year’s menu were savoury pancakes, roast pork with vegatables, treacle spong pudding with custard, and tea or coffee. Team Padawan comprised of yougsters aged up to 11, whilst Team Jedi, who were place second overall, comprised of youngsters with an average age of 12. For 2011 both teams will enter under the new name of “If ionly we had made the custard!”. Burntwood Scouts were the overall winners, beating Shenstone by just 3 points.
The group recently had all thier out doors cooking equipment stolen from the Scout HQ, this included the stands, grill covers, and drum bases. It was only with the timely funding of an emergency grant from Shenstone Parish Council that new equipment could be purchaesed, and the teams entered into the competition.
The Scouts can also now continue to use the equipment to BBQ at local Church functions, and at future events to be organised by the Parish Council
