Subject: Housing in Later Life Project – Lichfield District Council
You may be aware that Lichfield District Council has recently launched a project to find out about the housing needs of older people in our district. The details are on the council website, as well as our Facebook page and twitter.
Through its Housing in Later Life questionnaire and a number of focus groups, Lichfield District Council is asking local people aged over 60 from across the district for their views on housing. The responses will help inform our Housing Strategy, which will identify what housing is needed for Lichfield District’s older population.
Here is the link to the on-line questionnaire https://www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/housinginlaterlife
Evidence suggests that older people who want to downsize find it difficult to move house for various reasons. This may be due to a lack of suitable accommodation or just the hassle of moving. We are aware that, if the right type of housing is available, this will give greater quality of life for our older residents but also enable larger homes to become available for families and younger generations in the future.
We want to get as many responses as possible from our older residents and recognise that some may not be aware of this project, particularly those in the more rural areas. In your role as Parish Clerk, I would be very grateful if you could therefore please promote this survey at any events you have coming up between now and 18 November. I have attached a poster for you to display on an appropriate noticeboard where possible. I have also attached the questionnaire which can be completed either online or on paper and posted back to the council in a stamped addressed envelope. Paper copies are also available at the Burntwood and Lichfield libraries as well as Lichfield District Council reception and at Burntwood Town Council. If you would like me to drop off some paper surveys at any events, please do let me know.
